Huge Nicolet Beauty Lipstick Collection Post + Lip Swatches!

I have been planning this review for months now, but I did not have a lot of time to sit down and take photos of all these lipsticks. I could get it up sooner, but then it wouldn't include lip swatches, and I think that is fairly essential to a post like this. I hope you think it's worth it!

Nicolet Beauty lipsticks have been my favourite of mine for a while now. I was looking for some matte lipsticks that could replace my MAC ones. Although I love them, they are not cruelty free so I want to find something similar. I found Nicolet Beauty on Etsy and since about May, my collection has grown more and more. Here is my collection so far!

The main thing I love about these (other than their terrific formula, I will get to that in a second) is the colour range. Because these are mostly catered towards women of colour, the colour are very unusual. I'm all about that unusual lipstick life so it is a dream come true. Although they were formulated with darker skin colours in mind, they look surprisingly good (I think at least) on my very light skin as well. Here are the shades that I have collected so far: Arcadia, Delano, Lemoore, Lodi, Yorba Linda, Naomi, Ellensue and Anderson.

The formula on these is so nice as well. The ingredients are all natural. They are really matte, which is hard to find in the natural cosmetic-range. Most of those have oils in them which makes them not matte at all, but these are truly matte. Despite being matte, they are very comfortable as well. The pigmentation is great: the swatches above were about 2 swipes (for the shape) but they go on all opaque in one swipe as well.

I do feel like these hold up to MAC standards, honestly. They last the same time, are both comfortable and matte. The biggest difference is the smell: Nicolet Beauty's lipsticks are scentless. Although personally I would prefer a light scent, the positive side is that you can't hate the smell, because it is not there, hehe.

On to the lip swatches!

NOTE: I took some swatches on another day, because some came out not so true to colour. I wanted to show you what they really looked like so that explains that.

NOTE 2: If you see any shine on my lips, that's because I put some lipbalm underneath. Doing so many (matte) lipswatches gets the best of your lips, so moisturising was necessary. They are completely matte in real life and without all that excess lipbalm!

NOTE 3: These pictures where shot in front of a window with a lot of light, so these are actually slightly darker in real life.

Arcadia (discontinued) is a medium dark blue-toned berry and it is so lovely! This is my go-to when I don't know what to wear but yet want to feel a bit glam. I hate that it is discontinued. I'm kicking myself for not getting a back-up. The lipstick is ever so slightly darker in real life. It really compares to Rimmel's 107, but it is more red-based, darker and even, more matte! I prefer Arcadia by miles. Here's a swatch of those too:

Delano is a coral toned nude, I would say. Slightly darker in real life. Confession time: I don't use this one as much as my others. Not the lipstick's fault, but I'm not all about that nude life, to be honest. A very pretty colour for spring however. I think this shade looks good on many skin tones.

Lemoore (discontinued) is described on the site as a 'taupe', but I feel like it is a pinkish brown with a light grey undertone and some beige. Well, okay, maybe it is a taupe. But a very wearable one! I had to re-shoot this one as the camera does not do it justice in any way. I love this one, it is great for the muted down, greyish lip trend. I have worn this a ton! Oh, and it does not wash my face out in real life like it does on the pictures.

Lodi on me is a muted, dark purple, again with a brownish grey undertone. Again, a bit darker in real life, it reminds me of Coloured Raine's Marshmallow a bit. This is like Lemoore's older sister. Darker, and has less of a taupe undertone. If you are bummed that you can't get Lemoore anymore, get Lodi instead! And same with Lemoore, this one does not wash my face out in real life like it does in the pictures. I heard it's a dupe for Kylie Jenners lipkit in Dolce K, but I think that one is warmer, but I'm not too sure (although Lodi looks cooler here than it is).

Ah, Yorba Linda. It is a burgundy with a brown-red undertone. However, this can turn into a cameleon and looks like a dark muted rose or a vintage red-brown depending on the lighting. How! How, I ask you! This is their bestseller and I understand why. Many people will like this. And, I don't know what the deal is, but every single time I wear this I get compliments on it. By my friends, strangers, acquitances, everybody! Every single time! What! Oh, and I heard this shade is close to Kat Von D's Vampira.

Naomi is a straight up chocolate brown. I have been looking for a brown lipstick since forever and I'm surprised at how flattering it can be. I think this is great for when you want a bold lip, but still something neutral that will go with a lot of different looks. Yep, I'd recommend for sure. Although I recommend all of these but hey. By the way, this lipstick is a dupe for Melt Cosmetics' Catsuit and Kylie Jenner's lipkit in TrueBrown K.

Ellensue is a pure indigo. In some lights it looks very purple, and in others it is just a blue. Loving this! Again, very hard to capture on camera. I think it could be a lovebaby between Melt cosmetics DGAF (but darker, less bright and more purple) and Jeffree Stars Abused (but lighter and more purplish). Truth be told, I have not found many occasions to wear this out yet, but it is one of my favourites from her line and I think the most unique. I have not seen shades like this a lot, especially that are matte. A must-have if you're into blue lipstick.

Lastly, Anderson is a dark, dark, almost black purple. It is gorgeous and perfect. It really reminds me of Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipstick in Potion, but I'm not sure how they compare. A bold lipstick that is very fall-approved (or winter, or spring, or summer... you do you, boo).

And yes, here is where my lips started to look very crappy and shiny from all the lipbalm, so please excuse that.

All in all, I can really recommend checking these out. They are $12 each, but every once in a while she has a coupon code so you can get 20% off.  She comes out with new shades about every season as well, so keep an eye out! I do not have all of their shades (yet), so I can redirect you to her Etsy shop! (And dang it, I just saw she has new shades, bu-bye Christmas money!)

I bought all of these myself. I am not affiliated with the brand, I'm not getting paid for this article, I am just a very big fan!
