My 2016 New Year's resolutions - did I keep them?

Hi folks!

Sending you best wishes for 2017 and a new blogpost today. I made this post last year and I thought it would be fun to reflect back on that, seeing the fact that I'm absolutely awful at New Years resolution and pretty much everything else that involves long-term dedication - sticking to the topic, spoiler alert: my project pan is going bad, but oh well.

Ah, January 1st. If we only knew how shitty the year would turn out.

Ready? Here we go.

1. Learn a new English word everyday!

Did I succeedNah.

It sounded great in theory. I would subscribe to Word of the Day and get a new English word in my inbox every day. The first couple of days I was hardcore about remembering them, but after a couple of months I would look at the word, thought "uh-uh", and deleted the email. Some months ago I unsubscribed because I couldn't be bothered anymore.

2. Start a Youtube channel.

Did I succeed? Nope.

I really wanted to do this during the summer. In fact, I even sat down in front of the camera and talked without recording, but never pressed the button. After a while I lost interest and now I'm not even sure if I want to do it anymore. It seems fun at times, but I think I'm just not going to keep up. I haven't wrote a blogpost in months, why would I think keeping a video schedule would work? Sure, all it takes it dedication and motivation, but I just don't really see the point anymore.

2.5 Less anxious in general

Did I succeed? I guess so!

I still chickened out of a Youtube channel, but overall I think I'm less anxious. Don't get me wrong, I'm still an anxious mess, but I did reach certain milestones. For example, I joined a theatre club despite my sometimes crippling anxiety about social events and meeting new people. I'm less hesitant to go to the bathroom at public places. I'm still not where I want to be, but I'm planning to keep steady as I go.

3. Learn something new every month

Did I succeed? Hahahaha. No.

I'm pretty sure I completely forgot this resolution on January 2nd.

4. Not to live in the past

Did I succeed? Yes!

Now I'm not sure if this is because I didn't have all that many incredibly exciting things happen to me this year, but I don't reminisce all the time, I'm much more living in the now.

5. Kill 'em with kindness!

Did I succeed? Yes?

I'm not sure about this one. I definitely did become more apathetic towards people that I consider rude. When I see a person get racist and sexist (not talking about the US president here) instead of getting all worked up, I just let it slide. I don't mean I don't speak up when I have to - absolutely! But when something doesn't concern me - like, let's say, a dumb, passing-by comment on reddit - I don't see the point in making myself angry.

6. Try to step up my makeup-game

Did I succeed? I guess?

The changes I made with makeup weren't big, but I'm slightly better at eyeshadow now!

7. At least try to work out now and then

Did I succeed? Yep.

I'm still not working out on the daily, but I have worked out quite a bit this year! Whoo, go me, I guess.

What were your New Year's Resolutions? Did you keep them? Did you forget about them? Let me know!

Happy New Year's everyone, make sure to eat a ton and don't drink and drive!
